Last week i found an awesome keyboard at the local walgreens, except it was broken on one side. Everything else about it was intact, but they obviously were not going to sell it. I was able to haggle with them and talk them down from the 9.99 they were asking to 3.99. Hurray! With some experimenting, i found this little guy packs a punch!
-8 beats and 8 tones
-A record button with playback so you can record a short string of notes and play them back later
-Mini Drum Kit
-Tempo and Volume Control.
This keyboard will get a lot of modifications, but what i have done so far is add an “overdrive” button that really gives it a rocking sound. I also turned the dc input into a audio out since it did not have one. This might be the last update for a bit since i’m moving. But the new workshop will feature more of the circuits you love!

I hate excessive packaging. A lot. I went over to my grandmother’s house one day and discovered the box for “Crest Whitestrips” and thought, how can something so temporary be in such excessive packaging? Long story short, I decided to take it not knowing what to do with it. Cut to this morning, and the arrival of my Surplus Doomsday Device from getlofi and Make:, i found something to use the packaging for!

Pretty neat!

RUN!
I decided to clean my work table and take a picture

i also did two new instructables:
How To Make Panniers Out Of Recycled Materials For Less Than 10 Bucks:

I came up with some new stuff to work on, one being a box that lights up when you open it. I wanted to create something mysterious and awesome and use some LEDs

I also went to noisebridge for the first time since it’s opening. and I LOVE IT! i will be heading over there every spare monday i get and anytime they have an event. It’s really great to interact with other people who do electronics. It will move me forward faster i feel. While there i bought and built a brain machine kit that only i seem to appreciate.
I also came up with a great project regarding the APC, how about a business card sized APC?? coming soon…..
I got the amp project up and running last night, then today when i turned it on, it is really quiet. boo!
i also broke my synth, i was in a hurry and threw it in the trailer, combined with a speaker bouncing around, the wave switch came off. oh well, if i really feel like it i can replace it but i got it working again.
i also lost one of the knobs for the synth, double boo.
today is not a very good electronics day…
So last night i decided to be dumb.
the amp i’m working on is set to take 9 volts in two seprate areas on the board. I decided to hook up 12v to one. bad idea.
the speaker made a weird sound and then smoke from a capicitor began spitting out smoke at me.
“OH FUCK, OH FUCK, OH FUCK!!!”
luckly nothing caught on fire, and the board looks unharmed for the most part, just one of the capicitors is a little bubbled. once i get paid i can replace it. but it puts back the spange-o-matic for a little bit.

This project is getting me really excited especially since this was posted in an austin local news paper:

hurray!

My latest project involves an amp and a speaker from a dump run. I’m looking to make an amp + speaker that allows me to sit on the street and annoy the hell out of people. FUN! I also want to attach it to my bicycle, APC Bike anyone?
I’ll probablly have an update on that later this week!
thanks for all who watch this blog!
Hey everyone, it’s been a busy year so far, here are a few of the projects i finished.
Atari Punk Console:
I tried to do this from a schematic, and i failed but luckily to get me going Getlofi is now offering kits! I came up with a cool case out of a discarded flashlight. Here is is:

The Blue LED gives a really intense situation in the dark. the flashlight end is the speaker and to hook it up to a sound system, just open the case!
I have also been working on a synthesizer mod that has become a monster! The original Synth is a Gakken SX-150 (from maker shed) that is pretty lame out of the box, but has a lot of potential. I did lots of modding including the famous button mod, a weird sound switch, and touch based switch where you be come the resistor!

Lastly I finshed a tvbgone kits that i got from Magic Soft Inc. It’s in a case that won’t die in my pocket, so this makes me very pleased.

thats all for now, happy hacking!
