i’v been thinking about this for a while of how to get weather updates sent to my phone. I finally made it so by using three different things:

1. you need an account at twitterfeed to get the RSS feed sent to twitter

2. a weather RSS feed, i chose RSSweather

3. a twitter account i’m using the format of weather(zipcode)

if you link all these up and set then follow the twitter account with your phone, you will get weather updates every hour as the posts at rssweather change!

so far i have an account for emeryville, ca right now, but by the end of the week i will make one for each area of the bay.

Brain Dump #1

I started classes at SFSU last week, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science here i come. I have nothing new to show all of you, i just needed to put something here with a dump of projects on my mind:

-Ham Radio, I need to get a radio so i can at least listen.
-RFID i need to get the equipment, about 50 bucks
-Magnetic Strips, also a project that needs quite a bit of investment.
-Home Server, I fucked it up today, have to fix it and make it quieter
-Bike Horn 2.0, Need to fix my current horn and do a write up.
-More arduino Projects

that’s all for now! hopefully now that i wrote this down it will get me to do more.

SODA! S-O-D-A! Diy soda making

So i’v really gotten into making my own soda. It’s really yummy, easy and fun!

My first batch of soda was a green tea, ginger, apple, lemon peel and mint brew that tasted divine.

Second batch was root beer made with extract, yuck! the extract had a weird taste.

The third batch was root beer with dried sassafras and sarsaparilla and green tea. MUCH better but the green tea was a bit bitter, i need to not let the green tea brew as long

YAY FOR DIY!

As for electronics, i’m currenly working on radio stuff mostly trying to build or obtain antennas for scanning and CB Stay TUNED!

I assure myself someday soon i will be able to understand all the jibberish that is high powered LEDs.

trying to understand what drivers, leds, heatsinks, starpowers i need made my head hurt, but i still want to build my self a light with this technology.

but for now i hacked together this out of 4 10mm leds from ebay, the brightness is pretty good, but maybe 9v isn’t the most efficient

Altoids Synth 1.0

I picked up the book “Handmade Electronic Music” and made 2 simple synth from a hex schmitt chip.

The sound is pretty good and it could easily be made into a keyboard.

The first one is a breadboard of a photoresistor replacing the resistor, the second and cased version is with a pot controlling the resistance. FUN!

after weeks of haggling with AT&T about my phone line, i finally got it installed. I love watching the people who come over to do the work so i can follow what they are doing. After the tech left i noticed a bag of goodies on the ground, so i picked it up and behold, some sort of weird connectors!

They seem to be made by 3M and have weird goo inside, you can shove three wires in and push the red part down and they are connected, better than an on the go soldering iron i guess. That only other marking is a number that says “D-35″
